No Guilt Bagels

This simple recipe is not only insanely easy to make but also less calorically dense than a regular bagel (only 150 calories!!) and requires barely any ingredients. Perfect for impressing friends on a weekend brunch or make in advance and enjoy throughout the week!
What you’ll need to make 8 medium sized bagels:
2 ½ cups of flour
4 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
1 ½ cups of greek yogurt (must be greek, plain will be too sticky)
½ cup of water
1 egg
A drop of honey (optional)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and lightly grease a baking sheet (or use parchment paper).
In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add in the greek yogurt, and water. Mix until fully combined and then knead the dough with your hands. (If the dough is too sticky add in a little more flour)
Once the dough is formed, sprinkle flour on a hard surface (countertop or cutting board) and place the dough on top. Cut into 8 equal sections.
Roll out the section with your hands and then form into a circle.
Place all eight dough circles on the baking sheet (leave a little room as the baking powder will make them rise).
In a small cup, whisk an egg and add the honey and a splash of water. Brush the egg mixture on to the top of each dough circle.
This step is optional - sprinkle any seasoning you want on top of the bagels. I typically use the “Everything but the Bagel” seasoning from Trader Joe’s but you could make your own (poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onion flakes, garlic flakes, fennel seeds and flakey sea salt). You could also try seasoning the dough with cinnamon, salt, red pepper, parmesan cheese or rosemary.
Put the dough in the oven, and bake for 30 minutes. I personally love extra crispy bagels so I put the oven at a 500 degrees broil F for 2 minutes at the end.
Take the bagels out and let them cool for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
My personal favorite toppings include cream cheese, avocado, smoked salmon or eggs.
*To store either keep them in the fridge for up to 5 days or put in the freezer to enjoy later on.
